In plain language: EID identifies the embedded component that manages eSIMs; IMEI or IMEI2 identifies a device’s cellular radio function; ICCID identifies a SIM or installed eSIM profile; and the SM-DP+ address with an activation code directs the phone to retrieve a profile from the provider. They are related but not interchangeable.
The five fields at a glance
- EID: associated with the device’s eSIM capability. Seeing one in device information is useful evidence that the hardware supports this function.
- IMEI or IMEI2: identifies a cellular interface. A dual-SIM phone may show two values; IMEI2 is not a second phone number.
- ICCID: identifies a SIM or eSIM profile. It often appears in the plan details after installation.
- SM-DP+ address: the provider-side address used during profile download, often shown in manual setup instructions.
- Activation code: a credential authorizing retrieval of a specific profile—a form of digital key.
Why support asks for identifiers
A support agent may use the exact model, purchase region, and presence of an EID to assess compatibility. The ICCID may identify which profile is installed. Combined with the exact error, city, and local time, that information helps separate a download problem from an activation or local-network problem. Each stage needs different evidence; you should not send every sensitive field by default.
Details that must not be public
Treat the QR code, activation code, and any complete combination of SM-DP+ download details as credentials. Never post them in reviews, forums, marketplaces, or group chats. Full IMEI, serial numbers, identity documents, card details, and passwords should also stay private.
Where to find them on iPhone
Open Settings → General → About to find items such as EID, IMEI, and ICCID. Open an individual line under Settings → Cellular to view its label and state. Names can vary slightly by iOS version and region. Apple’s official guidance also lists the About screen and the device packaging as possible sources.
Where to find them on Android
Common routes include Settings → About phone → Status or IMEI information, and Settings → Network & internet or Connections → SIM manager. Samsung, Pixel, Xiaomi, and other manufacturers use different labels. The most useful evidence is the exact model, sales region, an Add eSIM option, and an EID—not merely the brand name.
Avoid mistakes during manual installation
- Connect to stable, trusted Wi-Fi.
- Copy the SM-DP+ address from the official order page without extra spaces.
- Copy the full activation code carefully, preserving letters, numbers, and symbols.
- Confirm the same QR code has not already downloaded the profile to another phone.
- If an error appears, capture the exact message instead of submitting repeatedly.
Is ICCID a balance-check password?
Enter it only when the provider’s official usage page explicitly requests it, and verify that the page belongs to the original order or service. ICCID is not a phone number and does not mean the plan includes calls or SMS. An unknown third party cannot infer every rule of a plan from that number alone.
Use the minimum-data principle with support
Start with the order number, exact phone model, purchase region, error screenshot, city, and local time. Provide ICCID or partial device details only through the official support channel when requested. Redact unnecessary IMEI fields, and do not place the QR code or activation code in a general ticket screenshot.

Check the device, itinerary, and real usage before buying
If you are unsure whether the phone supports eSIM, send the exact model, purchase region, and evidence of an EID or Add eSIM menu; do not publish or forward the activation credentials. Coverage, speed, validity, hotspot use, and activation rules depend on the selected plan and order instructions. Actual performance also varies with the local network, indoor coverage, congestion, and device; a fixed speed cannot be guaranteed.
