Prague is one of Europe's most beautiful cities — and one of the few major capitals where Gothic, Baroque, and Art Nouveau architecture survived the 20th century almost entirely intact. A compact city that rewards wandering with a good data connection.
Czech Republic eSIM Coverage
Czech networks (O2 CZ, T-Mobile CZ, Vodafone CZ) all provide excellent 4G/5G in Prague. Our Europe eSIM covers the Czech Republic as part of the 35+ country plan — ideal for Central European routes (Prague → Vienna → Budapest).
Key Attractions + Data Tips
| Attraction | Signal | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Old Town Square (Staré Město) | ✅ Excellent 5G | Astronomical Clock shows hourly from 9am–9pm. Watch at the hour, then escape the crowd. |
| Prague Castle (Pražský hrad) | ✅ Good throughout complex | Largest castle complex in the world by area. Allow 3–4 hours. Buy circuit ticket online. |
| Charles Bridge (Karlův most) | ✅ Excellent | Cross at sunrise (6am) for no crowds and incredible light. By 10am it's shoulder-to-shoulder. |
| Josefov (Jewish Quarter) | ✅ Excellent | Six synagogues + Old Jewish Cemetery. Buy combined ticket online at jewishmuseum.cz |
| Vinohrady / Žižkov (local neighbourhoods) | ✅ Excellent | Where locals actually live and drink. Far cheaper than Old Town. 20-minute tram ride. |
Prague Beer Culture
Czech Republic has the world's highest beer consumption per capita — and Prague takes its beer seriously. Pilsner Urquell, Kozel, and Bernard are the classics. Tips:
- Avoid touristy beer halls directly on Old Town Square — prices are 3x what locals pay
- Take tram 22 to Vinohrady and find a neighbourhood pivnice (pub) for CZK 40 (€1.60) for a half-litre Pilsner
- Lokál Dlouhááá (Old Town) is the exception — touristy but authentic Pilsner Urquell tank beer, served correctly
Getting Around Prague
- Tram: Best way around the city. Lines 22 and 23 go to Prague Castle. 24-hour pass ~CZK 120 (€5).
- Metro: 3 lines (A/B/C). Fast but misses many tourist areas that trams serve better.
- Walking: Old Town to Castle over Charles Bridge is 30 minutes — the best walk in Central Europe.
- Uber/Bolt: Both work. Avoid unlicensed taxis at the main station.
